Sometimes people amazing us. There are some things that you should just leave at home. Why do you want to weigh yourself down and what is the point. But, they still do it. Walk around the campground next time and you’ll see what we mean. Camping is supposed to be about getting back in nature, enjoying the outdoors, and enjoying your family. However, some people just don’t get it.
Lots of toys
Sure, bringing a walker or something that will keep the toddler entertained and safe might make sense. But, if you are toting the entire toy box, you might be going a bit overboard. Nature will be the kids’ best toy. They will love to run and climb and let them. They will find things to do, no worries and they can enjoy their toys when they get home.
This is time for an adventure. You need to let kids play on their own and get dirty. It will be an adventure for them and you won’t have to try to keep track of all those toys.
Your TV
What is so important on TV that you need to bring it on your camping trip? Nothing. All those tv programs that you enjoy at home, you can enjoy when you get home.
Nothing looks more ridiculous than a TV set up outside a bunch of tents. You don’t need to know the news, it will just cause anxiety. There is nothing you can do if you are camping, so enjoy the bliss of being unplugged for a while. Speaking of TVs, you can pretty much leave all your electronics at home.
Why haul them and risk them getting broken. You don’t need surround sound when hiking. Radio might be nice for some music but it is also nice to just get to know your neighbors and those that came camping with you.
The point of camping is to get away and how are you going to do that with all your electronics. Leave your phone home too, but if you insist on bringing it, leave it in the tent. This will keep it from getting ruined by you dropping it or it getting wet. Leave those laptops, handheld gaming systems, and all that stuff behind. This is a time to simply get away and have a great time with your friends and family.
Small Pets
We all love our pets but they should stay at home as well. Certainly, bring the dog, but the lizard, turtle, hamster, and guinea pig should stay home. Not only because it isn’t necessary to bring them but also for their safety. Small rodents, for example, can be picked up by a hawk with one swoop.
Their cages and all their stuff is just a huge mess to haul. Typically these pets can be left alone at home for short periods of time or have a friend or neighbor check on them for you! They will get along much better at home than outdoors.
