When out with nature, take some time for self-reflection.  This is a time to meditate on you and your goals and dreams.  We all get caught up in the rat race of life and social media.

However, when you get in tune with nature, you are getting back to your roots.  This is important as your body needs this decompression to feel whole. Going out in nature is great for both physical and mental health.  It is a time to just be and think about what life has thrown at you and how you handled it. Nature will also teach you some things if you just take the time to learn them.

Live in the Moment

This is a lesson that we certainly need to learn more.  Living in the moment and really just being for the time being.  Not looking ahead at the future or dwelling on the past. Watch as animals live in the moment.

This can be seen in the African Safari with the animals all laying around during the hot day and then getting more active at night when it cools down.  Living in the moment means you can enjoy what is happening right now. Don’t overthink.

Don’t Overthink

Sometimes we just don’t have time to overthink.  We need to act quickly while out in nature. The rain clouds are quickly forming or there is a threat to life by a wild animal.  Don’t overthink, just do as your instincts tell you to do. You need to be sure that when you are in nature that you are aware of your surroundings at all times.

We are not the top predator in some areas and it shows. But, if you are alert and paying attention, you will be just fine. Most animals are as afraid of you as you are of them.  But, don’t go sneaking up on a mother bear and her cubs.

Pay Attention

Paying attention sort of goes along with living in the moment.  There are quick drop-offs and animals all around in nature. While we should enjoy the animals and respect them as you are in their home, you also need to be aware of them.  Most are just as afraid of you as you are of them.

However, there are situations that you really don’t want to find yourself in, such as a challenge with a mother bear or an angry beehive.  Paying attention doesn’t mean to freak out or be afraid, just be alert and in the moment.

Appreciate the small things

There is beauty all around when out with nature.  Pay attention and appreciate the small things. Perhaps it is a butterfly fluttering about or the sound of the birds nearby.  Take time, live in the moment, and appreciate the small things.

Be alone

Taking time for ourselves is something that many of us don’t do that often.  We are not talking about sitting in your apartment alone, where you can still hear the screaming baby next door and the traffic.

We are talking about, taking time to be alone in nature. Take time to watch that babbling brook or enjoy time with the rustling leaves.  This is a great time to recharge!
