Going camping can be super fun. But, planning those meals by the fire and grill can be a bit daunting at first. That’s why we thought we would come up with a great go-to list for easy family camping meals.
Campfire scrambled eggs
Campfire scrambled eggs can be the best and are super easy, packed with protein and yummy. Add some sausage links for a more protein-packed punch that will stick to the bones. These are super easy to make over an open fire in a cast iron pan, or even on the grill. You typically have one pan dirty which is no big deal and everyone gets full and ready to start the day!
Dutch Oven Pizza
This is a hit with everyone almost every time. Who doesn’t like Pizza? This will use your Dutch oven. Put the dough down the bottom of the pan and cook it for a few minutes. Then add pizza sauce, cheeses and pepperoni and any other toppings you like. Put the lid on and put it in the hot coals of the fire. Try putting a few hot coals on the top of the lid as well. This will help it cook from both sides and will take only about 10 mins to complete. Super good and super easy to make.
Camping Quesadillas
Yum, these are super easy and just like making them at home, but in the fire. Find some aluminum foil and put all the goodies inside, fold over or add another tortilla and cook in the fire in its own little pouch. This can work with the pizza ingredients above as well for another option.
Kabobs!
We love kabobs and they are super easy to make up before you even leave. Something that can stay in the cooler or camper fridge until you are ready to use them. And, they can cook on the grill or over the fire. Put on your favorite meats or veggies and have them ready to go. This can be a filling meal without a lot of fuss.
Philly Cheesesteaks!
Cook up your sliced steak meat and cook in a cast iron pie pan. Or cast iron pan or over the grill and add the onions and peppers. Once the meat is done, you can take another pie baking pan and put in a tortilla shell, the meat, and veggie mixture and add some provolone cheese.
Foil Wrapped Fish with Herbs
Just about anything can be made with foil wraps. You can get creative with this idea. Cooking fish and potatoes in the foil wraps will help fill your crew up. Bring some Salmon and herbs for a great foil pack.
Pie Packets!
Two slices of bread in the pie makers with your favorite pie filling. And, that’s it, super easy and super yummy!!
Southwestern Breakfast Burritos
Add the eggs, ham, cheese, taco seasons, and use those tortillas for yet another meal!! Mix up the eggs and cook up the ingredients to put inside the burrito.
Campfire Popcorn
Get back to the basics and make your popcorn over an open fire. Add a little butter on the bottom of a pan and kernels. You can also make this in an aluminum square foil pack, just make sure you leave enough room for the popcorn to pop. Tie the pouch to a sick and pop it over the campfire.
We hope you have enjoyed these quick and easy ways to make food while camping.
