When you camp, you learn a lot about yourself. You understand that unplugging and getting back to you is important to you. But, with this better understanding of yourself means that you have the capability of having a better understanding of others too.

Many campers understand that some people need their space, they are team players and love their families. All of this is more understood by those that love and live in nature. If you are looking for a spouse, don’t go to online dating sites, go camping! If they are out camping, they aren’t interested in bars and nightclubs, which means they will have the same mindset as you.

Camping isn’t for everyone, SHOCK…now calm down. We are not kidding, some people just simply don’t like getting their hands dirty.  Which is needed in life from time to time? Life isn’t always easy and nobody knows this better than a true camper. Camping can be tough at times, such as your air mat deflates or your food gets wet.

These are things that are similar to what you will find in marriage problems.  Now, how your problem solves is key. You can look at the situation and try to remain positive, blame someone else for the situation, or be a negative bitty that can’t seem to do anything right.  This attitude is something you learn to control when camping. It is important in life, marriage, and camping to remain in a positive mindset.

Learn Encouragement

Encouragement is important in a relationship as well as camping. A long hike can take a toll on the body. You can be cold, stressed, and hungry. But, you look at it as a challenge to keep going to get through this time and be a better person for it.

This is similar to marriage as there will be struggles. But, if you take the attitude that you will get through the struggles your marriage will remain strong. Didn’t know there were so many similarities to camping and marriage, did you?

Think about it. Campers do not have an issue improvising and coming up with a plan. These are skills that campers take with them on the path of life as well. You are the kind of person that will get by and make do with whatever you have. You are not afraid of some hard work and dirt. These are important life lessons that you are learning from just being a camper.

You are more understanding

As a camper, you also understand things are not always perfect. That means that the rock you put your tent on is a major pain in the side.  You know to move the tent for the next time but for now, you will make do with what you have.

Life is not always perfect and marriage isn’t always perfect. These are living things that are important to understand.  This day and age people want everything done and they want it done now. Well, in camping, sometimes you are certainly forced to wait. You can’t get the fire going for example. Patience is something that the world is missing.

However, camping will help you with that. Patience is important to marriage as well. Taking the time to understand where the other person is coming from is important as well. With patience, you can do just that.
